Wednesday 04 May 2016

Two JT Group directors have been recognised in this year’s IoD Jersey, Director of the Year awards.

At a gala ceremony on Friday night at the Hotel de France, HR Director Richard Summerfield was named as the Young Director of the Year for 2016.

Richard Summerfield leads JT Group’s HR team and has been instrumental in placing HR at the heart of the Group’s strategy, with 'employee engagement' and 'driving performance' being key themes.

Richard Summerfield said: “I am delighted to have won this award and thank the IoD and the judges for this recognition. I’m really proud of what I have achieved at JT over the last five years, particularly our award-winning HR Strategy and Talent Management Programme and I look forward to continuing to help JT keep moving forward.”

Also, Corporate Affairs Director, and JT Group Board member, Daragh McDermott was recognised by the IoD for achieving Chartered Director status.

Graeme Millar, CEO of JT, said: “We’re thrilled to have two of our Directors recognised in this way by the IoD.

“Richard has won a prestigious category and will now go forward for the UK IoD Director of the Year Final Awards later this year. We were really proud to have two of our people shortlisted in this one category and this reinforces the fact that JT is being led by some truly talented individuals.

“Richard has been influential in driving our successful Talent Management Programme which provides meaningful career progression opportunities for our 600 people around the world. His strength in leadership, passion and contribution has been central to our successful transformation over the past five years.

“In the same way, Daragh worked hard to achieve his Chartered Director status, the pinnacle of the IoD's professional director qualifications. He thoroughly deserves that recognition and is a real asset to the JT Board.”
