LOCAL family support charity Home-Start is asking the public for donations of clothing accessories in advance of them taking over the OSA pop-up shop for the first week of September.

The charity will be taking over the shop, based at the top of Smith Street, from the 1st – 6th of September where they will be selling various accessories and trinkets.

In order to be well stocked throughout the week they are looking for the public to donate, anything from jewellery to hats, scarves and handbags in good condition. These can be dropped to Home-Start’s offices at the Roseville Community Centre, Le Petit Bouet, St Peter Port or alternatively collection by Home-Start can be arranged.

As well as accessories, Home-Start is also asking for any willing volunteers who would be happy to come in to the store for a few hours during the week.

Home-Start’s senior co-ordinator, Jane Le Conte, is looking forward to spreading the word of the charity: “Given the nature of the charity we spend a lot of time in the office and in the homes of service users but this week in the OSA pop-up shop will give us a chance to be engaging with the public, informing islanders of the work we do with young families.”

Home-Start was set up six years ago to recruit and train volunteers to support local families with young children in difficult situations by providing both emotional and practical support in their own homes.

“We have lots of fantastic volunteers who do an amazing job for us but if anyone is interested in the charity and could spare a few hours during the week to help out, it would be greatly appreciated” said Mrs Le Conte.

For anyone who wishes to get in contact with Home-Start about donations or volunteering, please contact: Jane Le Conte on: 720382 or home-startgsy@live.co.uk.
