The Channel-Island Co-op has announced who is in the running to join its Board as Directors.

There are two seats available, one in Guernsey and one in Jersey. Competing for those seats there are seven nominations in Guernsey and ten in Jersey.

Across both islands a record number of applicants have put their names forward for this year’s elections.

Options within Guernsey include volunteers with years of service, a former Deputy who retired at the end of last term, and two current Deputies, one of whom recently resigned his position on ESS.

In Guernsey Co-op members will choose between Phil Baldock, David Dorrity, Gareth Fooks, Ben Le Huray, Michael Morris, Sally Rochester, and Peter Roffey

Eligible members can choose who they want, with online voting now open and in-person voting taking place at the Annual Members Meetings held at St Pierre Park Hotel in Guernsey (19 May) and in Jersey at the Radisson Blu Hotel a day later.

Both meetings start at 18.30 with registration open from 17.30.

Mark Cox, the Chief Executive Officer of CI Coop, said: “The Coop is unique because it belongs to its customers,” adding, “When Members vote, they are helping steer the direction of their own business. That level of community influence is something most retailers can’t offer.”

Kevin Kelly, Chief Governance Officer at CI Coop, commented: “Serving on the Board is a real opportunity to protect and strengthen a model that reinvests in the islands, prioritises fairness, and puts members first.

“The more people who vote, the stronger the democratic pulse of the Society becomes.”

Instructions on how to vote and all candidate information is available on the Coop’s website.
