Making the corner of Rue Maze and La Grande Rue, the site of the former La Croix Guerin, latterly known as The Furze Oven, was a busy cafe for many years until its closure. It has been empty since then.

Now, a Mr and Mr Gothard have applied for a change of use from Class 11 (cafe) to Retail Use Class 9: convenience retail, which would mean it can be reopened as a florist.

If planning permission is given, it would mean a new business would then be able to open in St Martin’s village, which already has clothes shops, a pharmacy, jewellers, bank, petrol stations and supermarkets.
