Guernsey’s rate of inflation has increased slightly – rising by 0.6 percentage points so far this year.
At the end of March, the ‘all items RPI’ was 4%.
This is the rate at which prices are increasing, based on a sample basket of shopping and the cost of other services and payments.
At the end of December the ‘all items RPI’ was 3.4%, and last March it was 4.2%.
Inflation is calculated by the States of Guernsey’s Data and Analysis team.
Within the data published today, the groups of goods and services that increased the most in price over the year ending in March 2026 were the ‘Fuel and Light group’ where prices rose by 14.7%.
In the ‘Tobacco group’ price rises of 12.4% followed the new excise rates introduced in the 2026 Budget, and the ‘Catering group’ which includes things like take-aways, coffees to-go, and restaurant dishes, saw prices go up by 6.3%.
The rate of inflation is published quarterly. The next update is due out in July.
