Islanders are being encouraged to get active this May as part of a month-long initiative offering participants the chance to win a range of prizes.

Love to Ride’s “Roll and Stroll” challenge aims to motivate people to walk, wheel, or cycle more in their daily routines – helping to build healthier habits while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions by cutting down on car travel.

Those interested can sign up through the Love to Ride Jersey app or website.

Participants can take part by simply logging their journeys on the platform, which automatically enters them into a series of prize draws across both the UK and Jersey.

Among the individual prizes on offer is an early sign-up award featuring a Garmin Forerunner fitness watch provided by Rock ‘n’ Road.

Participants who log cycling journeys could win Shokz open-ear headphones donated by Powerhouse, while those choosing to walk or wheel may be rewarded with afternoon tea at The Atlantic Hotel, along with cycle hire or electric vehicle transport to the venue.

An “Encourager Award” will also grant a six-month membership to Active Gym.

Workplaces are also set to benefit, with prizes awarded to the top-performing organisations in several size categories, excluding the Government of Jersey.

Larger workplaces can win a one-hour online “Move At Your Desk” workshop, while large organisations are in with a chance of receiving two hours of complimentary ice cream from Lulu’s Ice Cream Bike.

Medium-sized and smaller businesses can earn a catered team breakfast from Beresford Street Kitchen.

The initiative is part of a wider effort to promote sustainable travel and healthier lifestyles across the island, encouraging residents to make small but meaningful changes to their everyday journeys.
