The Institute of Directors (IoD) Emerging Leaders will host an English garden party event named ‘The Future in Bloom’.

The event, on Friday 3 July, will run from 16:30 to 21:30 at St Pierre Park Hotel, in St Peter Port.

The IoD said the gathering marked Emerging Leaders’ recent rebrand – from the ‘Next Gen Forum’ – and was designed to support experienced professionals moving into board-level leadership.

The event also aims to bring together IoD members, senior professionals, and emerging business leaders from across Guernsey.

A spokesperson said they wanted to help experienced professionals – including junior directors, senior managers, and department heads – in developing the skills, confidence, and networks required for boardroom roles.

The organisation’s membership spans “multiple” sectors to support leadership development across different career stages.

Liz Chalmers, Committee Co-Vice Chair, said: “There are a growing number of groups supporting professionals in the earlier stages of their careers.”

“Emerging Leaders is a home for experienced, senior professionals seeking the next step on their path to the boardroom across all business sectors, rather than being industry-focused.”

Ms Chalmers said: “The Future in Bloom is a celebration of Guernsey’s current and future leaders, and an opportunity to build relationships, share ideas and champion the talent that will help shape the island’s future.”

The organisers said local businesses would supply all aspects of the event, including photography, event management and catering.

The evening will also feature locally-sourced produce and live performances from local artists.

David Matheson and Billy Etheridge from the restaurant Alba (which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand) will speak about their respective career journeys and the development of their local restaurant.

There will also be a presentation from Drew Jonkmans, Fund Accounting Supervisor at The Citco Group, who will discuss the importance of investing in the next generation of island leaders.

Tickets are free of charge for IoD members and cost £40 for non-members, with bookings available through Eventbrite.
