La Grande Mare has appointed Ben Stimson as its new Managing Director.

He is expected to begin his new role in April ahead of the golf course opening, which is scheduled for this summer.

Mr Stimson joins the team following the October launch of the Golf Performance Centre, which is managed by Golf Performance Director Sue Shapcott.

Mr Stimson was most recently the Director of Golf at The London Golf Club, where he managed golf operations, member engagement, events, and service delivery. He has previously worked in senior golf and leisure roles across the UK, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

“I am thrilled to be joining La Grande Mare at such a key stage of the project’s development,” he said. “Guernsey is a beautiful island, and it’s exciting to be part of such a milestone moment for the island’s hospitality industry.

“I’m looking forward to joining the local community, nurturing homegrown talent and using my expertise to help shape La Grande Mare’s reputation for delivering ‘Always Extraordinary’ experiences for every visitor.”

In his new position, Mr Stimson will oversee the resort’s golf, dining, and leisure services. Including leading recruitment and team development, managing golf club functions and course conditioning in collaboration with La Grande Mare’s Course Manager, Rick Hamilton.

Mr Stimson will also be tasked with increasing local and international awareness of the brand and driving membership.
