Next month La Grande Mare’s new state-of-the-art ‘Golf Performance Centre’ will open its doors to the public for the first time.

It’s the next step in the timeline, on a project looking to transform the club and hotel into a “world-class Country Club”.

The multi-million pound redevelopment of the site aims to get the GPC up and running by next month, with the new eco-eyed Golf Course playable from Autumn next year.

The Country Club itself is planned to open in winter 2027.

With the grand opening of the GPC just round the corner, the island’s media were invited to see behind the scenes, and get a taste of what life will be like at the all new La Grande Mare Country Club.

In anticipation of the launch of the GPC, and further developments in the Castel, the Club has also unveiled a new look, new logo, new website, and updated social media presence.

The design of the website keeps with the same aesthetic present throughout the Centre. Warm neutral and natural tones are common throughout the building, just off the Rue du Gele.

Wood, stone and natural, local resources have been utilised throughout it’s construction, and the cafe features its own locally blended coffee bean mix, thanks to a partnership with Bean14.

The eco-vibes continue through to the driving range and the specialised performance suites.

Gone are the plastic Golf Tee’s, and instead, the coffee beans used to fuel the players, get repurposed.

There’s also been an extensive focus on the environmental impact, with thousands of tree’s and hedging plants being procured and planted.

The team even includes an accomplished ecologist and sustainability professional, with aims to improve the bio-diversity of the area.

As for the driving range, it continues those themes of sustainability in its architecture and design, but the aim is to offer a higher standard than previously seen on island.

The range itself is 300 yards, meaning you can “open up your shoulders” and unless your driving professional distances, you’re free to hit as hard as you’re able to.

It offers digital versions of famous courses, games and has bays designed for both left and right handed players.

Instead of booking a bay, and purchasing buckets of golf balls, the booking of a bay is all that’s required, with balls provided.

Lastly the GPC boasts some high tech advances in the area of player development.

The purpose-built facility houses a custom club-fitting studio, and dedicated instruction suites with RADAR guided ball tracking.

A spokesperson for the club said the “expert on-island instruction is supported by leading performance technology that gives every player clear data and detailed statistics for measurable improvement”.
