Guernsey Community Savings has appointed Cathy Lloyd as a Board Director and Ed Miller as Company Secretary.
Ms Lloyd, who leads on governance and regulatory matters, has more than 30 years’ experience in the finance industry across the UK, Jersey, and Guernsey. She co-founded Advisory Services (Guernsey) Ltd in January 2022 which now employs 21 people.
“Giving back to the Guernsey community is extremely important to me,” she said. “While I already support several local charities personally and through my business, I wanted to contribute more than financial support by using my professional skills to deliver real, practical benefit.
“By joining the GCS Board, I can help tackle financial exclusion on the island and support people who struggle to access basic banking services – something many take for granted, but which has a profound impact on dignity, security and independence when not available.”
Mr Miller (pictured top, right) is a civil servant with the States of Guernsey and a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh. Before returning to the island, he spent two years working with third-sector organisations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, focusing on communications and strategy to reach vulnerable young people.
“I’m delighted to join GCS and support a great team that reaches those who need help most, ensuring our support remains of the highest quality and continues to create opportunities across the Bailiwick,” he said.
GCS founder and Chair Peter Neville (pictured top, centre) welcomed the pair to the board of the financial inclusion charity, and said he looks forward to working with them for the benefit of their clients.
“With a strong team at Board level and in the office, we are in a great position to support our existing clients and to reach more islanders who have been unable to open a bank account and are financially excluded from society.”
