The Medical Specialist Group has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Farid Fouladinejad has more than 20 years’ experience working across the NHS in London. His most recent role was as Chief Operating Officer and Partner at a primary care group running GP services for nursing homes in the UK.

Dr Fouladinejad, said he was inspired to apply for the MSG role after speaking with its Chair Dr Steve Evans.

“Steve really sold the role to me. His enthusiasm and commitment to the residents of Guernsey stood out and was a driver for me to hit ‘send’ on the application.

“I also found the rigour, care, attention and time devoted by so many MSG partners to selecting their next CEO very thorough and professional. A reflection on the organisational culture.”

During his career Dr Fouladinejad has been involved in acute, community, primary care and public health roles. Having worked on health service transformation, strategy and planning health systems, as well as leading on major health service programmes particularly with a technology focus.

He holds a PhD in medical electronics and physics from St Bartholomew’s Medical College and an MBA from Imperial College London.

“I am motivated by delivering and facilitating change with clinical teams. The engineer in me enjoys enhancing processes and teams to make the working environment rewarding and effective for clinicians and patients alike,” he said.

“My style is very patient and process centric and involves observing and learning about people, their needs and how they work, so that I can understand the strengths and challenges of an organisation from an internal and external perspective.

“I am really looking forward to joining a diverse local community and getting involved in the many facets of this beautiful island life. Since childhood I have been fascinated by the sea and boats but never had the chance to experience it.”

Dr Fouladinejad has experience working in healthcare systems in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Before joining the NHS, he worked as a technical consultant for a US-based healthcare consultancy.

Dr Fouladinejad is married with a recently graduated son. His wife plans to move here later in the year when their son has settled into his new career.

Dr Michelle Le Cheminant, Deputy Chair, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Farid to the MSG and Guernsey. He brings a wealth of experience across both secondary and primary care. His strong strategic insight, combined with his calm and cooperative leadership style, make him a great fit for the MSG. Farid is a welcome addition to our Board and I look forward to working with him.”
