A team from Ogiers swapped their day jobs for decorating at the GSPCA last week, helping the charity’s ongoing development work.
The four volunteers from the retailer painted the new kennel building, which is part of its broader site redevelopment.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the four members of the Ogiers team who volunteered their time to help us.
“Not only did they spend an afternoon working hard painting our kennel building, but Ogiers also kindly supplied the paint and equipment needed for the task, which was a huge help to the charity.”
The GSPCA has welcomed plenty of corporate and community groups over the last few months as their new site comes to life.
Mr Byrne added: “Corporate volunteer days are a fantastic way for local businesses to support the work of the GSPCA.
“Whether it is helping with practical jobs, supporting one of our wish list projects, donating items we need, fundraising, or supporting one of our appeals, every contribution makes a real difference to the animals in our care.
“As we continue with our Biggest Build Appeal and work towards replacing two essential animal ambulances, support from individuals, businesses and community groups is more important than ever.
“We would encourage anyone interested in helping to get in touch and find out more about the many ways they can become involved.”
Once they’d mucked in, the Ogiers team were given a behind-the-scenes tour by Assistant Deputy Manager, Ali Le Huray.
They saw the scale of work taking place and learnt about the exciting plans for a new Wildlife Hospital and their ongoing 24/7 work taking care of the island’s animals.
Ms Le Huray said: “It was wonderful to welcome the Ogiers team to the GSPCA and show them some of the work taking place behind the scenes.
“Volunteers often don’t get to see the scale of what goes on every day, so it was lovely to be able to give them a tour after their hard work.
“The help they provided painting the kennel building will make a real difference and is something that would otherwise have taken staff and volunteers much longer to complete. We are extremely thankful for their enthusiasm and generosity.”
