Airport hails launch of “valuable new gateway for visitors”

Loganair has launched its first direct service between Jersey and Bordeaux, marking the first time the Island has been connected directly with the French city by air.

The inaugural flight departed on Friday (19 June), with the seasonal route set to operate twice a week until 5 October 2026.

The new connection forms part of Loganair’s expansion from Jersey, following the introduction of services to East Midlands, Paris and Norwich.

Ronnie Matheson, Loganair’s chief commercial officer, said the airline remained committed to supporting island communities.

“These direct services provide more choice for islanders while representing an opportunity for Jersey to reach new markets, further supporting the visitor economy,” he said.

Dale Reeson, managing director of Jersey Airport, said the Bordeaux route, alongside the recently launched Paris service, meant there were now five Loganair flights each week linking Jersey with France.

“This enhanced connectivity with Europe not only strengthens travel options for residents but also creates a valuable new gateway for visitors to discover everything our island has to offer,” he said.

Simon Dreschel, chief executive of Bordeaux Airport, said the new route would strengthen the airport’s network and help attract more English-speaking visitors to the region.

“The launch of this service to Jersey and the arrival of a new airline at Bordeaux Airport further strengthen the diversity of our offering,” he said.

“This route creates a new opportunity to connect with English-speaking visitors who are particularly fond of our region.”

According to Loganair, Bordeaux Airport offers onward flights to more than 82 destinations across 27 countries. Fares on the Jersey service start from £86 one-way.
