The former CEO of Gymshark is among the special guests of the upcoming IoD Jersey event that will “explore the entrepreneurial journey”, from “bold beginnings to transformational exits”.
IoD Jersey is inviting “leading minds” from across sectors to the new style event, titled ‘Grit and Growth – Lessons from Leaders Who’ve Been There’.
It aims to highlight Jersey’s potential to be an “incubator for entrepreneurial activity” and share insights from those who have undertaken this journey.
Steve Hewitt, former CEO of fitness apparel brand Gymshark, will be attending the event as a speaker.
Mr Hewitt helped lead Gymshark through a period of exponential growth, earning it a place among a circle of British ‘unicorn’ companies – a startup company valued at over US$1bn which is privately owned and not listed on a share market.
He will be joined by Mark Brider, CEO of Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, for a “fireside chat” about authentic leadership and entrepreneurial impact.
There will also be a panel discussion about “real-world journeys from start-up to scale-up” with Allan Wood of Hiizzy and Hanna Roos of Aavalynx that will focus on risk, resilience and rewards.
IoD Jersey said the event will explore innovation through adversity, lessons from failed ventures, sustainable and social enterprise, and the importance of diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurial ecosystems in hopes of “energising leaders” and “inspiring the next chapter in enterprise”.
The event, sponsored by Resolution IT, will conclude with a networking reception for attendees to “build relationships and explore new collaborations with industry peers and potential partners”.
Grit and Growth – Lessons from Leaders Who’ve Been There, takes place on Wednesday 17 September 2025 from 6pm to 10.30pm at the Pomme d’Or Hotel.
