Jersey Water has officially opened its new headquarters and water quality laboratory at the Rue des Pres trading estate.

Douet House brings together teams that were previously spread across several sites into one integrated operational hub.

The move follows the sale of Jersey Water’s former headquarters, Mulcaster House at Westmount, to support the development of Jersey’s new hospital.

Lieutenant Governor, Vice Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd, formally opened the building before touring the facilities and meeting employees from across the company.

He also spent time in the new laboratory, taking part in testing with the water quality team.

The Lieutenant Governor said: “It was hugely valuable to see first-hand the expertise, professionalism and care demonstrated by the teams at Jersey Water.

“Visiting the new headquarters and spending time in the lab provided a clear insight into the breadth of work and specialist knowledge involved in making sure we all receive clean, safe drinking water every day.

“The commitment across the organisation was evident throughout my visit.”

Jersey Water chief executive Helier Smith added: “Douet House is one of the most important investments Jersey Water has made in recent decades.

“It brings our people, our laboratory and our operational teams together on one site, creating a more efficient, resilient and sustainable organisation.

“Our new headquarters allows us to work smarter, reduce long-term costs and enhance the service to our customer as we need to continue providing safe, high-quality drinking water for the island, today and for generations to come.”
