The Channel Islands Group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has announced the appointment of a new Chair and two new Committee members.

Guernsey-based Dan Gallienne has been named Chair of the Channel Islands CIPR. Dan has worked in communications for more than a decade and has served on the local committee since 2018. A Chartered PR practitioner, he advises clients across the Channel Islands and further afield on strategic communications, media relations and stakeholder engagement, and plays a key role in driving agency standards, supporting team development and overseeing major client programmes at Orchard.

He succeeds Alex Mallinson, who is stepping down after two years at the helm.

CIPR has also welcomed Katie Sharman and Alec Farrell onto its committee.

Ms Sharman, who works in the Government of Jersey’s press office, has worked in communications and marketing for six years since graduating from university with a degree in journalism.

Also joining the committee is Alec, who graduated from university in 2023 with a degree in sports journalism, before joining Black Vanilla, a PR & communications agency in Guernsey.

“The ways we receive information, news and opinion are changing all the time so it’s never been more important that the PR profession has strong representation and a solid ethical foundation,” Mr Galienne said.

“Our local CIPR group exists to promote exactly those values, alongside providing informative events for our members.

“We’re open to anyone who works in or with communications, the media or marketing – and want as many people as possible to get involved. We’ve got a great committee in place with the additions of Katie and Alec this year, and I’d like to thank our outgoing committee members Ebony Lyons and Nichole Culverwell for their service,” he added.

“I’d also like to thank Alex who did an amazing job leading the group for the past two years, we’re in a strong position to build on and I’m excited by what we’ve got planned.”
