Ports of Jersey has said its floating holiday pods have seen “strong” occupancy levels since their introduction in the St Helier Marina, with bookings “regularly exceeding 80% and reaching over 90% during the busiest months”.
The Shells started welcoming guests last year, shortly after their arrival in Jersey at the end of 2024.

The one-bedroom floating pods measure ten metres long and four and a half metres wide and are designed to move with the tide.
Responding to questions from Express, a Ports spokesperson said that the States-owned entity was “very pleased” with the performance of The Shells so far.
“Occupancy levels have been strong, particularly during the peak summer season, with bookings regularly exceeding 80% and reaching over 90% during the busiest months,” they continued.
“Performance in 2026 has been ahead of 2025 in both occupancy and revenue, demonstrating growing awareness and demand for this unique visitor accommodation offering.”
The spokesperson also contended that The Shells have “helped broaden Jersey’s tourism offering” by providing “a distinctive waterfront visitor experience”, while making effective use of marina infrastructure.
“Their success has been recognised through a number of industry awards, including the Green Tourism Silver Award, Marina Team of the Year 2025 and runner-up in the Coastal Marina of the Year category,” they added.
“We continue to review opportunities to enhance and diversify our marine leisure and visitor proposition, and the positive performance of The Shells will help inform future discussions as part of the wider development and long-term vision for St Helier Harbour.”
