Deloitte has announced two senior promotions in its Channel Islands tax team.

Andrew Pitcher, based in Jersey, has been promoted to director, and Martin Popplewell, in Guernsey, to partner.

Mr Pitcher joined the Jersey tax team as a graduate in 2014 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2017.

The firm said he has since built a successful UK real estate tax compliance practice, serving some of its largest and most prestigious clients.

He has also been “instrumental” in supporting the careers of many Deloitte real estate tax practitioners, both in Jersey and across the UK.

Mr Popplewell relocated from Deloitte in Leeds to Guernsey in 2010, joining the Guernsey team as a tax manager.

He has over 21 years of experience and has developed specialist knowledge in FATCA, Common Reporting Standard and Economic Substance.

The firm says he contributes widely to the Channel Islands practice, participating in local government working groups, sitting on the GSCCA tax sub-committee and leading some of Deloitte’s local sponsorship initiatives.

Across the Channel Islands, an additional 11 Deloitte employees received promotions to Manager and Senior Manager levels.

Jo Huxtable, tax partner at Deloitte in the Channel Islands, said: “These promotions reflect not only individual excellence, but Martin and Andrew’s tangible impact on the firm, our clients, and the wider community.

“They bring fresh perspective, expertise and drive to the business, strengthening our culture of collaboration and innovation.

“As they step into their new roles, I am confident that they will continue to build on this momentum, pursuing new challenges and inspiring those around them.

“Their achievements are a testament to Deloitte’s commitment in the Channel Islands and nurturing talent and recognising potential at every stage.”
