The States of Alderney are pleased to welcome representatives from the States of Guernsey’s Children and Family Community Services team, who will be hosting a series of information sessions on the island on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June.

The sessions, taking place on Friday 12 June, are aimed at professionals, States Members and stakeholders, and will provide an overview of the support and services available in Guernsey that can be accessed by the Alderney community.

The presentations will be held in the Anne French Room at the Island Hall as two drop-in sessions, at 10:30 to 12:30, and from 13:30 to 15:30.

The sessions will include contributions from a range of children’s, family and adult services,
outlining their roles, aims and the support they can offer. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and explore ideas with visiting professionals.

People can register to attend online, and can opt to attend either in person in the Anne French Room or virtually.

Where possible, attendees are encouraged to attend in person, as this provides a better
opportunity to meet representatives face-to-face and allows for more open discussion and easier questions and answers during the sessions.

The overall aim is to raise awareness of, and improve access to, services available across the Bailiwick, supporting children, families and adults in Alderney.

This visit forms part of a wider programme of collaboration between the States of Alderney and the States of Guernsey.

A further community-focused event will take place on Saturday 13 June at the Island Hall, where services will be present in person in a more informal, table-top format.

The event will take on a family fun day format, with activities for children including a raffle, face painting and live music, alongside refreshments. Residents, families and young people are encouraged to attend, meet service providers, and find out more in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

A spokesperson for the States of Alderney said: “The States of Alderney are delighted to support the information events that the Children and Family Community Services Team are holding here in Alderney on the 12th and 13th June.

We have been working collaboratively with the team to develop a pilot here in Alderney that will provide access to these support services through a resource centre that will be opened in association with the Youth Services Commission in QEII Street.

We hope that this service will be well used and that the services offered will expand over time, improving access for our community to the full range of support available through Health and Social Care services.

We would encourage everyone involved with children and young people to attend the public event on 13 June at the Island Hall. Everyone is welcome, and there will be activities to keep children entertained.”

These events represent a valuable opportunity to strengthen links across the Bailiwick and ensure Alderney residents are better connected to the support available to them.
