The passenger gangway at the Inter-Island Quay has been reinstated after undergoing essential maintenance and repairs.
The 36-metre gangway was craned out two weeks ago and separated into its three 12- metre sections, allowing Technical Services staff to carry out detailed inspections and welding repairs to the aluminium frame.
While the works were initially expected to take around one week, the extent of the required repairs proved to be greater than first anticipated.
In order to avoid further disruption in the near future, the decision was taken to complete all necessary repairs while the gangway was ashore.
During this period, access to the Inter-Island Quay was maintained via steps, with ferry operators managing passenger access to and from the quay.
Head of Port Operations, Kieran Higgs, said: “These repairs were necessary to address storm-related damage and general wear and tear. We would like to thank passengers and quay users for their patience and understanding during this time.”
