A 31-year-old man has been charged and remanded in custody after a security staff member at Lib in the Square raised concerns over an alleged domestic incident following the end of the St Helier festival.
Police are appealing for witnesses and footage as officers continue to investigate allegations of “serious assaults” said to have taken place during the early hours of Monday 4 May.
Officers said they were trying to piece together the movements of a man and a woman who were in town between about 11.30pm on Sunday 3 May and 2am the following morning.
According to the appeal, the pair – a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s – had been at the Lib in the Square event in the Royal Square before leaving together at around 11.30pm.
They are believed to have moved between Library Place, Mulcaster Street, The Weighbridge and Liberty Wharf during the course of the evening.
Police said it was understood the pair had been involved in a disturbance, with arguments taking place at points during the night, and that there were allegations of serious assaults.
The man was described as having short dark hair and wearing a light-coloured jumper with dark jeans or trousers. The woman was described as having long dark hair and wearing a black vest top with light blue jeans.
Investigators thanked a member of security staff from Lib in the Square who raised concerns at the time and said they were keen for that individual to make contact to assist enquiries.
Police also want to speak to a woman who helped the woman involved on Mulcaster Street at around 1.15am by escorting her away from the man and into Chambers.
She was described as wearing a black puffer jacket and white trousers, and as having a distinctive light blue or white scrunchie or bow in her hair.
