Time is running out to buy tickets for a special charity raffle to win a new Kia Picanto car worth more than £16,000, raising much-needed funds for Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG, which this year celebrates 50 years of service to the Bailiwick.
The winning ticket will be drawn by the charity’s patron His Excellency, Lt-Gov Lieutenant General Richard Cripwell CB, CBE, on Friday 31st January at Government House.
According to Guernsey Public Health Data, circulatory and respiratory diseases are two of Bailiwick’s leading causes of mortality. But as Chest and Heart chairman Dr Stephen Brennand Roper explained, it takes more than £125,000 a year to maintain the charity.
‘I am extremely grateful to the Lt-Governor for his continued support, to Forest Road Garage who offered us the car, and to our loyal staff for their unwavering commitment especially when faced with the ongoing challenge to keep raising funds so we can continue our valuable service for the foreseeable future.
‘Additional funding will allow us to employ more nurses and expand to clear any backlog brought about by past lockdowns when our service had to suspended and meet additional demand for our services, especially from corporates who are placing more emphasis on employee wellbeing.’
Tickets cost £25 and are still available from the Chest and Heart clinic at the Oberlands entrance to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, from Forest Road Garage or call the garage on 01481 235753 and they can take payment over the phone.
