More than 2,000 people attended this year’s Twilight Cinema event at Castle Cornet. Almost 85% of available tickets were sold over the 10-day event, with 10 of the showings completely sold out.

The programme followed the same format as last year, with an early, family-friendly showing at 5pm, followed by a film for adults at 7pm. Amongst the family-friendly options, ‘A Minecraft Movie’ and ‘Encanto’ proved particularly popular, selling out within days of going on sale. ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ and classics such as ‘Shrek’, ‘Madagascar’ and ‘School of Rock’ also reached capacity.

The 7pm showings also proved popular, with ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’ a particular hit. ‘Gladiator’, ‘Top Gun’ and the opening night’s showing of ‘The Breakfast Club’ also sold out.

Twilight Cinema will return next August, with dates due to be announced in spring 2026.

Helen Glencross, Head of Heritage Services, said: “Our team was delighted to welcome more than 2,000 people through the Castle gates for this year’s Twilight Cinema. It has become a much-loved highlight in the Guernsey summer calendar, and this year’s event felt like the best yet. With a wonderful spell of weather, glorious sunsets and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, Castle Cornet was shown at its very best. I was particularly pleased to see so many families and young people at the castle, and we hope to welcome many of them back before the end of the season to experience the noon-day gun, tours, children’s trails and enjoy everything the castle has to offer.

“Now Twilight Cinema has wrapped up for 2025, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who helped make it a success, including the technical, booking and planning teams at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, the States of Guernsey marketing team, and the visitor services team at Guernsey Museums.”
