Specsavers stores in Jersey can now carry out routine eye tests from tomorrow [Fri12June] after operating an emergency-only service during the past 11 weeks while COVID-19 restrictions have been in place.

Customers are now being asked to request an appointment in advance by phone or web link to help with social distancing and the new hygiene measures which have been introduced to ensure customers and staff remain safe at all times.

The two stores, based in St Helier and St Brelade and led by partners Kati Sykes and Gail Baker, can once again provide the full breadth of optical services, including eye tests, contact lens consultations and frame repairs. New glasses, contact lenses and other accessories can also be bought.

Ahead of reopening for routine services, Specsavers has introduced a series of hygiene and personal protection measures to ensure a safe and comfortable experience in store. This includes restrictions on the number of customers allowed in the store at any one time, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with government and industry guidelines. In addition, all testing equipment and frames will be thoroughly sanitised before and after handling, and strict social distancing rules will be followed.

Store partner Kati Sykes says: ‘We are absolutely committed to ensuring that everyone is taken care of in the best possible way, both in the test rooms and in the stores. Therefore, there will be restrictions on the number of customers in the stores at any one time and we’ve introduced the highest hygiene and personal protection measures.

‘During tests, our colleagues will be wearing industry recommended PPE which includes face masks, so even though they’ll be pleased to see you, you may not be able to see their smiles. This is just to safeguard people at all times during their visit.

‘Our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of all of our customers and colleagues, so every measure that we have taken is designed to put safety first.’

The stores thanked customers for their patience and understanding. ‘We have missed our loyal customers and it is fantastic to be able to open again, with new measures in place, to ensure customers can visit us safely and with confidence,’ adds Kati.

To request an appointment, contact the stores on 01534 726 373 for St Helier or 01534 741 744 for St Brelade. Alternatively please visit specsavers.co.uk.
