Job losses at Jersey BHS confirmed as 39

Thursday 28 July 2016

The administrators for BHS have confirmed 39 jobs will go in the next few weeks in Jersey.

Duff & Phelps say the store will be closing sometime before 20 August, but couldn't say exactly when it will shut up shop for good.

Billionaire Sir Philip Green who owns Topshop, bought BHS in 2000 and has been accused of mining it for hundreds of millions before selling it last year for a pound and leaving 20,000 employees worried about their pensions when it went bust.

The BHS pension fund is reported to be £571 million short.

20 stores across the UK shut last weekend and another 20 will cease trading this Saturday.

Town Centre Manager Daphne East hasn't yet confirmed who will be taking over trading in the King Street store next month.
