Facilities management provider AFM is celebrating achieving new accreditation for reaching "rigorous" health and safety standards.
The firm were recently granted their application for Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation - one of the leading third party schemes used by thousands of UK SMEs and FTSE100 companies.
The firm said that their application was driven by the need for a "uniform standard" across the business. They now hope gaining it will provide their commitment to safety and will be viewed positively by insurers once the company's liability policy requires renewal.
Mark Edgar, Managing Director, said that the company believes the health, safety and wellness of their employees, contractors, clients and the general public are of "paramount importance."
"Having retained the Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation yet again recognises the continuous, proactive approach to health and safety applied by the team here at AFM," he explained.
Director of Alcumus SafeContractor, Gemma Archibald, added: "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that AFM has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process."
