The Atlantic Hotel flies the tourism flag for Jersey in Germany

The Atlantic Hotel has launched a new drive to attract more German visitors to Jersey.

The family owned small luxury hotel, which features the Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant, hosted an event in the German city of Munich to introduce journalists to the delights of Jersey and the Channel Islands.

The initiative by The Atlantic Hotel has been welcomed by tourism chiefs at Visit Jersey who believe Germany offers a real opportunity for sustained growth in terms of visitor numbers, building on already increasing demand.

The Hotel’s owner Managing Director Patrick Burke said: “As part of our ongoing desire to tell the world about the beautiful island of Jersey, its world class produce and of course The Atlantic Hotel, Ocean Restaurant and Mark Jordan at the Beach, we travelled to Munich to meet a number of top journalists from the leading glossy magazines in Germany.

“To launch our new campaign, we hosted a media lunch at the Bogenhauser Hof restaurant where we were delighted to introduce the Munich media to Jersey and the Channel Islands.

“We were even able to take some of our famous Jersey Royals along with us, which were perfectly cooked by the team at the restaurant as per our executive head chef Mark Jordan’s instructions, and they went down an absolute treat.”

Visit Jersey’s Head of Marketing Adam Caerlewy-Smith said: “This investment from our local industry is a great extension of the German activity that Visit Jersey is currently carrying out. The Atlantic Hotel is world class and offers a fantastic experience for visitors to Jersey.

“Germany is the world’s third most valuable outbound tourism market, worth an estimated $76.3bn in 2015, and Jersey is well placed to offer Germans the types of experience that they are seeking when on holiday, including the opportunity to relax, go for countryside and coastal walks and to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

“Jersey can be reached from a number of Germany cities with direct summer flights, or with a simple change of plane in the UK.”
