Communicare Pre-school to receive nearly £20,000 for refurbishment project

The Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands has granted £18,839 to Communicare Pre-school to fund their current refurbishment project.

The refurbishments are being scheduled over the summer break and will modernise the pre- school’s bathroom facilities, kitchen, and replace the main floor in the nursery with a more fit for purpose surface.

Communicare Pre-school is a non-profit organization with a 40 year local pedigree of providing affordable, valuable, and high quality childcare service for children between the ages of two and five.  The team at Communicare Pre-School are committed Early Years Practitioners and all the funds raised through fees and their calendar of events is used for the benefit of the children who attend their facilities.

In order to stay true to this mission, and keeping in touch with their roots of parent volunteers, they have a dedicated Parents Fundraising Committee which enables the Pre-school to raise funds to provide and replace resources and equipment that will benefit the children.  The committee has so far held a Christmas raffle and Easter Fayre this year and will be holding a wheel-a-thon this July to further support their cause.

Communicare Pre-school is hosting their annual Open Day on the 11th June where prospective parents can meet the team and review the premises where their children will be attending in the autumn.  Parents, friends and families are welcome to attend if they’re interested in joining their setting in the future.

Sue Paul, Manager, Communicare Pre-school, said: “We’re so grateful to the Lloyds Bank Foundation for this very generous grant.  A refurbishment project of this scale would not have been possible otherwise; despite the dedicated efforts of our fundraising committee.  Kate Biljon did an outstanding job at ensuring our application was the best it could be and submitted appropriately, without her help this would not have been possible.”

“Once this project is complete it will provide us with the opportunity to reflect on the physical environment indoors and make appropriate changes to meet the learning needs of the children in our setting.  I’m delighted to see this project take off over the summer holidays and to see the positive effects it will have on the children in the autumn.”

Jo Le Poidevin, Executive Director, Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, added: “It’s always a great feeling to help out where we can when the effects of the grant will strongly benefit the lives of children.  Supporting children’s development at the early stages of one’s life is significant in helping them reach their full potential. Being able to give such a hard-working and dedicated Pre-school the opportunity to refurbish their premises so that the children can benefit from a fit-for-purpose and modernised facility is an awarding and excellent feeling.  I look forward to seeing the finished product at the end of the summer.”
