Deadline looms for Young Enterprise competition

Tuesday 29 September 2020

Sixth form students have just over a week to apply for the Jersey Young Enterprise ‘Student Company’ competition.

Applications will close on Friday 9 October with the competition winners expected to be announced in May 2021.

The competition aims to "open the doors to skills and business opportunities" to all sixth form students by supporting them in running a successful Jersey-based company.

“We are absolutely delighted that during this very strange period in our shared history, we can support our young people at this critical time in their education," Eamon Fenlon, Chairman of the Jersey Young Enterprise Board, said.

"As an employer myself, I know that it is those students who have extra experience, extra skills and evidence of pro-activeness that enable them stand out from the crowd. The Young Enterprise Student Company competition which has been shaped through many lessons learned over the past few years, offers all Jersey-based sixth form students the opportunity to network with their peers, learn new skills.

"Through first-hand experience they will discover that it takes more than just academic know-how to run a successful company. The life lessons they will learn such as collaboration, communication, compromise as well as the more academic aspects such as finance, HR, corporate governance, marketing and branding will propel them forward in their future careers."

Students who wish to participate can submit their application online
