Expansion and division of Jacksons and Motor Mall creates 15 jobs

Tuesday 29 September 2015

The division and expansion of services at Jacksons and Motor Mall will create 15 new jobs.

Eight new members of staff have already started in a variety of positions, across sales and business development. A second wave of recruitment is underway for the company’s sales, service and valeting departments.

Peter Campbell, head of operations at Jacksons, said separating the two brands and taking on new staff would improve the customer experience.

"It will enable us to spend more time with our customers and dedicate more time to training and staff development, keeping up to date with the rapidly changing car and van business," he said.

"We have also opened a new specialist commercial vehicle division and a first for the Channel Islands is our new leasing and contract hire division which brings a multitude of benefits, including fixed cost motoring and programmed vehicle replacement specifically aimed at the business community."

Gareth Eeson has been appointed head of sales at Jacksons and Motor Mall. Mr Eeson, who has a background in accounting and finance, moved into sales 10 years ago with Mercedes-Benz; his latest role was sales manager at Mercedes Benz World.

"Jacksons has a trusted relationship with many of the top manufacturers and it is an exciting time to join with all the growth and development ahead. I believe I can play a strong part in adding value to the sales team and reaffirming our position as the island’s best and most trusted dealership," said Mr Eeson, who won sales management awards with Mercedes Brooklands in 2013 and 2014.

David Stewart has been taken on as specialist brand manager, looking after Bentley, Aston Martin & Porsche sales at Jacksons. Mr Stewart, a former Guernsey resident, previously worked as a Ferrari sales specialist in the UK.

Car enthusiast Bryan Turney, who has more than 20 years’ experience in sales management, has become commercial sales and business development manager in the new car and van leasing division. Mr Turney, who spent 12 years working on the sales and business development side of a telecoms business and four years running his own sales business, is an avid F1 fan and is a veteran of 72 Grand Prix.

Andrew Bibby has been taken on as group after sales manager at Jacksons, while William Pucci has become sales controller manager at Motor Mall. Mr Pucci was previously general sales manager at Motor Mall in Jersey; Paul Kirkham has joined the valeting and site maintenance department.

A change of career sees Tony Le Page move from the finance industry to the position of sales executive, along with Michael Sermon, who previously worked as a bullion trader.

Mr Le Page said: "I wanted a change of career and the motor trade is something that has always attracted me, Jacksons in particular because of the vast array of vehicles they can offer, and the company’s out look on client care. I have always enjoyed face-to-face client interaction and offering a great service."

Motor Mall moved to the airport site in 2008, when the St Martin’s site was let to a third party business. Mr Campbell said the two brands had outgrown the site.

"The growth of the company meant the airport site had become congested and we wanted to be able to provide a better display for our vehicles. By opening the new site we are be able to focus on providing a world-class service every day. Motor Mall will be delivering on its promise to drive down the cost of motoring in Guernsey through aggressive pricing of all our vehicles, repairs and fuel."
