Hand Picked Hotels Jersey has announced the appointment of Kelly Fergus to the newly created position of Channel Islands Training Manager.

Kelly will be responsible for identifying training needs and implementing programmes and will be working across the group’s three Channel Island four and five star properties; Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa and Guernsey’s St Pierre Park Hotel & Golf Resort.

Kelly has worked within the Hand Picked Hotels group in Jersey since 2011, starting as a seasonal Receptionist and moving up to the role of Team Leader three years later; before being promoted to Assistant Front Office Manager in October 2015.

Kelly will be tasked with co-ordinating all of the training activities for the Channel Islands supporting the individual development needs of each property and creating quarterly training plans. She will deliver the core group training programmes and work with external suppliers to roll out additional statutory training requirements such as food safety and relevant legislative updates.

Lesley Pritt, Head of Training and Quality for Hand Picked Hotels, said: “The creation of this new role allows us to provide dedicated support to each of our three Channel Island hotels, increasing the opportunities for the professional and personal development of all our team members.

“Kelly has the ideal mix of experience and skills, along with an excellent understanding of the business needs of the islands having been based in Jersey for five years.

“Kelly’s focus will be to co-ordinate and deliver training activities across all of the properties to ensure team members and managers have the appropriate skills and knowledge to further develop the levels of guest experience and satisfaction we already provide.”

Kelly, who studied Travel and Tourism in New Zealand, is excited about the next step in her career development within the Hand Picked Hotels Group.

She said: “I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with all three hotels and getting to know their teams, working with them to create and deliver the tailored training programmes.”
