Jersey hosts first STEP Employer Forum

Monday 20 July 2015

Jersey hosted the inaugural STEP Employer Forum last week as local members of the private wealth sector met at the offices of Vistra in St Helier to discuss training and development.

Around 25 industry representatives attended the Forum, which was organised by STEP’s Employer Engagement team in collaboration with STEP’s Jersey branch.

The Forum was a part of STEP’s wider Employer Training Scheme, which is currently in its pilot phase and aims to help any accredited employer deliver the best possible learning outcomes for both staff and their organisation.

STEP Vice President and Chair of the Professional Development Committee, Rosemary Marr, attended the Employer Forum to present participating companies with their certificates of accreditation, which was followed by a round-table discussion on employee learning and development. The Employer Forum closed with an update on STEP’s CPD requirements and provisions.

STEP’s Head of Employer Engagement, Jenni Hutchinson said: "The ETS has generated considerable interest, nowhere more so than in the Channel Islands, so it was natural that we hold the first Employer Forum in Jersey.

"Our partners have all demonstrated commitment to strengthening the overall private wealth industry through high-quality, structured professional development. The Employer Training Scheme is in its early days and we look forward to bringing our partners to the table for an update on its progress and enabling them to provide their feedback and help shape it for the future."

Certificates of accreditation were presented to representatives from Bedell Group Services, First Names Group, HSBC Trustees CI Jersey, Moore Stephens, NedGroup Trust and Vistra (Jersey) Ltd.
