A Jersey company’s new IT system designed to revolutionise GP and health data has been given the critical green light to be rolled out across the NHS and the UK.
The MediBooks system has been developed by Total Solutions Group with the support of the States’ Innovation Fund, and has already been taken up by every GP surgery in the Channel Islands.
The system is now the only one of its kind to have been certified and endorsed by the Health and Social Care Information Centre in the UK, which means that it can be pushed out across the NHS and the 10,000 GP practices in the UK.
The news has been welcomed by Total Solutions Group CEO Danny Bannister who says it is a “giant step forward” for the company.
He said: “It is testament to the dedication and high calibre of our technical teams that enables us to create a range of high quality innovative products and interfaces for our clients capable of achieving this kind of prestigious assurance. “It is also due to the unwavering support of HSCIC all the way through assurance that our product is now the only one of its kind to have been certified as passing this process.
“All of which means NHS Healthcare organisations, nationally, will be able to choose our product with absolute HSCIC assured peace of mind knowing it is aligned to the NHS Information Services strategy.
“Furthermore, this showcases nationally the depth and quality of Jersey’s technical talent and ability to produce world-class products and is a giant step forwards towards our aims of working collaboratively with other leading technology organisations to create an international MedTech ‘centre of excellence’ here within the Channel Islands.”
The news has also been warmly welcomed by Digital Jersey, the States agency charged with developing and nurturing the tech industry in the Island.
Chairman Paul Masterton said: “We welcome the news that Total Solutions Group have achieved NHS assurance for their MedTech software. The success of MediBooks showcases the skills of our local digital talent and Jersey’s capability to produce unique products and drive innovation on a national scale.
“This national recognition is excellent news for Total Solutions Group, as well as marking an amazing achievement for the islands wider technical industry, this has the potential to provide more opportunities for digital jobs in Jersey.”
