Jersey student top of the class - and top of the world

Monday 26 January 2015

A student who studied for her Level 6 investment advice qualification in Jersey has achieved the highest mark ever – out of 10,000 people worldwide.

Victoria Eastwood, Associate Director, Head of Client Reporting and Proposal Delivery at RBC Wealth Management, sat the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment’s (CISI) Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification in June and her mark of 95% was the highest ever awarded in the world.

Passing the highly demanding qualification means that a practitioner has proved their broad understanding of the principles of private client investment advice, within the context of the current regulatory environment. The course at Jersey International Business School that Ms Eastwood attended comprises nine days of intensive tuition, as well as a significant amount of self-study pre- and post-tuition in order to be fully prepared for the exam. The exam is stretching and is assessed via a three-hour written exam split into different sections.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to win this award and am very pleased that my hard work has paid off. I feel very proud and fortunate to work for a company like RBC that is so committed to the ongoing development of its staff, and therefore I was able to take advantage of the exam funding and study leave that they provide. In addition to that I was lucky enough to have top class tuition from Chris Usher at Jersey International Business School whose good humour and limitless patience no doubt played a large part in my exam result, and I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Chris later this year for the Chartered Wealth Manager qualification.”

The Chartered Wealth Manager extends the Business School’s provision of investment business qualifications, now including Levels 4, 6 and 7. Ms Eastwood's exceptional result sits alongside their overall exam success and their 96% average pass rate for the PCIAM exam and 93% rolling pass rate on the Investment Advice Diploma.
