Beer drinkers in Jersey are getting ‘crafty’ as growing numbers opt for artisanal brews.

Love Wine is bringing some of the world’s most sought-after craft beers to the Island this year to cope with increasing demand for premium ales.

Since Love Wine started selling craft beers two years ago, they have introduced 50 different beers to their range, with sales in the past six months alone shooting up by over 300%.

These beers include Sink the Bismark, a quadruple IPA with 41% ABV, and Tactical Nuclear Penguin, a stout aged for 14-months in whisky casks before being frozen ... twice.

The latest offering from the Scottish craft beer producer Brewdog, is also aimed at beer connoisseurs. Black Eyed Imp has an ABV of 12.7% and is thought to be the strongest canned stout in the world. With intense flavours of vanilla, espresso, smooth molasses and bitter chocolate, Black Eyed Imp is available exclusively in Jersey from Love Wine, with a RRP of £9.50 per can.

Chris Rogers, Director, Love Wine, said: “Craft beers are a growing market, with increasing numbers of people showing an interest in artisanal drinks. These premium craft beers are designed for people to sip and savour in the same way they might enjoy a glass of excellent wine. Craft beer is now our fastest growing category.”

“Brewdog has a good reputation among craft beer enthusiasts for their innovative products that appeal to beer connoisseurs, yet have managed to open up craft beers to wider markets. We are pleased that Love Wine can bring their latest beer to Jersey in time for Christmas.”

According to figures from CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) over 170 craft breweries have opened up in the UK in the past year, and the industry is growing by 10% a year, with growth coming notably from craft beer.
