Mansell and RUBiS join forces in First Tower with state-of-the-art service station

Tuesday 27 January 2015

A petrol forecourt and service station has now officially reopened at First Tower, providing resident and passing motorists with a convenient stop-off point to refuel.

The Fuel joins together two businesses focused on quality of product and delivery of excellent customer service; it is part of the Mansell group of high quality motoring businesses and will offer quality products supplied by RUBiS.

There has been a petrol station on the site at least as far back as the 1920s when there were just two pumps standing road-side in front of a small cottage. RUBiS has been supplying products through the forecourt for many years. The station has now undergone an eighteen-month transformation since it was bought by The Mansell Collection, whose chairman is Nigel Mansell, in 2013.

A great deal of thought and planning has gone into the refurbishment of the garage, including installing state-of-the-art pumps and new storage tanks beneath the forecourt with the project team overcoming significant engineering challenges. Careful consideration was also given to the building’s façade, which includes architectural nods to the iconic Art Deco-style design of The Mansell Collection further up St Aubin’s Road.

The completed petrol station has been designed to meet the very latest national and local guidelines, which have been drawn up in consultation with petrol station operators across the UK.  As the newest petrol station to open in Jersey, The Fuel therefore benefits from national expertise as well as abiding by local regulations.

Nick Crolla, Head of Sales & Marketing at Fuel Supplies CI Limited said, “The Fuel has been completely transformed from how it was before. It has always been an extremely well-run and popular service station, but the redesign of the forecourt will give customers a much better experience when they stop off to top up. This is the start of an exciting partnership between RUBiS and the Mansells, which will go from strength to strength.”

Leo Mansell of The Mansell Collection added, “The Fuel is second to none in Jersey. It has been mine and my father Nigel’s dream to create a very modern forecourt, with a Formula 1 style service area behind it. We are very proud of what has been achieved.”

The service area will house the Full Service Centre, which is also part of the Mansell group of companies, providing after-sales care not only for Mitsubishi owners but drivers of all makes of vehicle.

The Fuel re-opened just before Christmas and an official launch party was held this week for customers of RUBiS and The Mansell Collection. At the launch, Managing Directors Nicolas de Breyne (Fuel Supplies) and Leo Mansell (The Mansell Collection) welcomed guests and announced a competition for 2015 to celebrate their new partnership. RUBiS Card holders now have the chance to win £100 worth of fuel each month, whenever they fill up 30 litres or more of petrol at The Fuel. At the end of the year, all 12 monthly prize draw winners will be entered into a competition to win a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage 3 car worth £12,000, together with three years’ free servicing.

Nick Crolla said, “This is a great competition to reward customer loyalty and it is open to new and existing RUBiS Card holders. To enter the competition motorists can pick up a RUBiS Card application form from the forecourt kiosk, or our head office at La Collette.”

The Fuel sells Premium Unleaded, Super Unleaded and Diesel as well as a full range of complimentary products. The forecourt is open from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.
