Safety Council member re-elected for new term

The Managing Director of 4Safety has been appointed for a further three-year term of office as a member of Jersey Safety Council.

Adrian de Gruchy's previous term of office expired on 13 March 2020 and he reapplied to serve a further term.

Recruitment commenced in mid-February 2020, in accordance with the Jersey Appointments Commission Code of Practice.

Two other candidates submitted applications, but one withdrew early in the process in light of competing priorities associated with the covid-19 pandemic.

Mr de Gruchy was eventually selected as the preferred candidate by the council's Chairman, Dr Stephen Taylor, based on what has been described as the "strength of his valuable contribution to Council over his preceding term of office" and to provide consistency during the unprecedented challenges associated with covid-19.

The other applicant was, however, invited to reapply for a further vacancy arising in August 2020, following the expiry of the third and last term of office of another Council member.
