Offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has announced three internal promotions to group partner which will take effect from February.

Abel Lyall and Matthew Guthrie from Guernsey and Paul Martin from Jersey will join the group partnership within their respective practice areas of litigation, international trusts and private client and finance and corporate.

Jonathan Rigby, global managing partner of Mourant Ozannes said: "We're delighted to welcome Abel, Matthew and Paul to the group equity partnership. They've each made a significant contribution to the firm already and excelled on our innovative partner development programme, which prepares our senior lawyers for the challenges they will face as leaders and owners of the business. We recognise that developing our talent in this way is critical to our continued success."

Mr Lyall's practice in Guernsey's litigation team focuses on corporate and commercial disputes, with a particular emphasis on insolvency, contentious trust and fund disputes. He joined Mourant Ozannes in 2008 from Australia where he practised commercial litigation and insolvency.

Mr Guthrie leads the International Trust & Private Client team in Guernsey, having joined the firm from Taylor Wessing LLP in London in 2011. He principally advises trust companies, international families and high net worth individuals in relation to asset protection, succession planning and wealth structuring through trusts, foundations and other vehicles. His practice also includes advising on pensions matters and share option schemes. Matthew is a member of STEP.

Mr Martin advises leading corporate and financial institutions on a wide range of transactions and has particular expertise in relation to schemes of arrangement, IPOs, public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and joint ventures. He joined Mourant Ozannes in 2008 from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal LLP in London where he trained and qualified as an English Solicitor, advising on a wide variety of general corporate matters.
