New Funeral Director appointed

The Channel Islands Co-operative Society has appointed Lynsey Mallinson as a Funeral Director and Civil Funeral Celebrant at De Gruchy’s Funeral Care.

Mrs Mallinson is joining the De Gruchy’s team to help people with funeral arrangements and formalities, coordinating and directing funerals and leading celebrant services.

Mrs Mallinson, who previously worked for Maillard’s Funeral Directors, joins the team with a background in counselling.

A former fundraising manager at Jersey Hospice Care, and a journalist previously, she is also a long-standing Samaritan volunteer and bereavement support worker for the Community Bereavement Service, as well as a mediator.

"De Gruchy’s Funeral Care has an excellent reputation in Jersey for delivering great levels of care as well as delivering services at good value and it’s a real privilege to join become part of the team," said Mrs Mallinson.

She added that celebrant funerals were growing in popularity because of what they offered.

"A celebrant funeral is one driven by the wishes, beliefs and values of the deceased and their family, not by the beliefs or ideology of the person conducting the funeral. It sits between a religious service and a humanist funeral. It can include religious elements of whatever faith, or no religious content, as well as other elements that can be combined to better reflect the wishes of everyone involved," she said.
