Ogier’s Luxembourg team ‘punches above its weight’ according to the latest analysis by industry experts Legal 500.

‘Responsive and thorough’, the expanding Ogier team has been ranked in three categories in Legal 500’s new guide to EMEA, with two new team members featuring alongside the firm’s three partners as recommended individuals.

The Luxembourg team, which was established in 2012 and is the only office of a Channel Island law firm in the City, has a ‘very commercial and client-oriented approach’, Legal 500 notes in its 2016 rankings for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Ogier’s managing partner in Luxembourg, Francois Pfister, said: “We are very pleased that the strength of our growing team has been recognised by Legal 500. Positive commentary by market analysts is always welcome, because these quotes represent endorsement by our clients of our technical skill, commercial approach and our insight into current market trends.”

Founding partner Daniel Richards, who is a Luxembourg Advocate, Jersey Advocate and English Solicitor, is noted for his expertise in both banking, finance and capital markets and commercial, corporate and M&A.

Mr Richards is ‘excellent’, says the guide, and managing associate Laurent Thailly has ‘solid legal knowledge’.

Both Mr Richards and partner Fabien Debroise provide ‘a knowledgeable, proactive and solution-oriented service to clients engaged in new money transactions and refinancings’, says the guide.

On the investment funds side, in which Ogier advises regulated and unregulated funds and their managers on fund formation, structuring, taxation and regulatory issues, Francois Pfister is recommended alongside senior associate Marc Lenaers, a recent addition to Ogier’s Luxembourg funds team.
