As part of the programme of events being rolled out during Enterprise Week 2015, PwC Channel Islands is collaborating with Jersey Business on the opening seminar, the theme of which is The Future of Enterprise.
Taking place on Tuesday 12 May, this opening session will examine how global megatrends are profoundly disrupting and reshaping the economic and commercial landscape.
From technological change to economic and demographic shifts and resource scarcity, we will question what opportunities and challenges arise for Jersey’s businesses as a result. PwC’s high profile, international speaker Will Day will present the keynote speech followed by discussion and debate amongst business leaders about the actions that Jersey needs to take to stay relevant.
Will is Sustainability Advisor to PwC, and Fellow of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). In addition, he is Chairman of Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP), a non-profit company bringing together private sector and NGO member organisations to pursue the Millennium Development goal for water and sanitation in the poorest parts of the world.
Will works regularly with senior staff at Board and Executive team level of global and large national companies, and governments around the world to help them better understand, and identify the strategic risks and opportunities that accompany the rapidly evolving global context. Recent clients have included Sainsburys, Old Mutual, Nedbank, Kingfisher, EDF, Johnson Matthey, the Beijing Municipal government, China Telecom, Tata Group, Laing O’Rourke, Interface, the World Bank, the Africa Development Bank, Arup, Saint Gobain, Grosvenor and Coca Cola Enterprises, and of course PwC itself.
With such strong experience of working at Board level in companies around the world, there is no one better placed to share the stories of how companies such as these are leading innovation in response to global megatrends, and to share insights into how the future will be very different from business as usual. Investors are looking for different returns, competitors are emerging in new ways, customers are taking back value from their data and looking for access not ownership, employees want a different relationship with their employers. Enterprise in Jersey needs to stay ahead of these trends, seize the opportunities and manage the challenges. This is more relevant than ever in 2015, when productivity in Jersey is the new watch-word and there is an opportunity to shape a new longer-term vision for Jersey. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear and work with Will to think differently about the Future of Enterprise in Jersey.
