Salamanca Group to sponsor 2016 Jersey Triathlon

Friday 18 December 2015

The organisers of the Jersey Triathlon have announced that Salamanca Group Trust & Fiduciary will be this year’s Title Sponsors of the fast growing sporting and community event that takes place on Sunday 10 July 2016 at the Waterfront in St Helier.

In the past three years the event has seen rapid growth, where in 2015 the race welcomed some four hundred people, of all abilities, to participate across one of the race distances.

Organisers say they have even bigger plans for 2016 and that thanks to the sponsorship received from Salamanca Group Trust & Fiduciary the event will be able to welcome even more people in 2016 from both on and off the Island.

Andrew Thomas, Managing Director of 3D Events and Organiser of the event said: “We are delighted to welcome Salamanca Group as Title Sponsor of the event. Their support arrives at an exciting time, as it will allow us to continue to invest in the future growth and development of the event.

"Triathlon is the world’s fastest growing sport and we have a very scenic and popular course here in Jersey, so we are confident that with the additional support of Salamanca Group we can attract even more people to the event from overseas as well as enhance the overall event experience for our local competitors”.

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Douglas, Managing Director of Salamanca Group’s Trust and Fiduciary business in Jersey said: “There has been significant growth in the popularity of triathlons both internationally and locally in recent years and this event is a fantastic way to showcase the island of Jersey.

"We believe this dynamic event speaks to Salamanca Group's drive of being both a global and local player, being multi-disciplinary, having agility, courage and going the extra mile.

"We are thrilled to be associated with the event through this sponsorship and we are proud to support the continued development of such an inspiring competition."

Also new for 2016 is the ‘Jersey Sprint’ distance (Swim 750m, Bike 40km, Run 5km) which is a slight variation of the normal Sprint distance. This new distance will mean that

the event will now have a full range of races available for every triathlete, whatever their ability. Organisers say that there has never been a better time to complete your first triathlon with both a Super Sprint and Jersey Sprint now available, in addition to the Olympic distance and team relay option.
