Sleep Well Milk admitted as members of Guild of Fine Food

Wednesday 28 February 2018

Jersey-based Sleep Well Milk has been admitted as members of the Guild of Fine Foods - an industry group aimed at upholding excellence in fine food and drinks production.

Founded in 1995, the Guild supports and promotes specialty food producers and the independent delis, farm shops and food halls that sustain them. Backed by 1,300 members, it runs the Great Taste and World Cheese Awards.

Sleep Well Milk was launched in September 2016 by Allan and Sam Watts. Their first product, a vanilla flavoured bedtime milk drink was launched at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London in September 2017.

The drink is already being sold online, in local shops and at Fortnum and Mason in London. The company is now in the final stages of signing listings with a number of leading high street names in the UK and is negotiating export deals with Dubai, China, Hong Kong and South Korea.

Sleep Well is made by Jersey Dairy using whole milk from local herds, honey and valerian, used for its calming effects, and is sold as a long-life product. The company has now produced a chocolate flavour drink, expected to hit the shelves by spring.

Next week Sleep Well will be at Hotelympia, the biggest trade show for the hospitality and on-board sector, and a number of product buyers have already made appointments to meet the company.

Sleep Well Director Allan Watts said, "This is another milestone in what has been an astonishing year for our company, from launching in London six months ago to listing at Fortnum and Mason by Christmas and the huge support we have received from local stores. Becoming members of the Guild is important because it underlines our commitment to quality and innovation. It also helps present our product to the thousands of independent food and drink outlets across the UK."
