Stephen Baker Speaks at International Fraud Conference in Hong Kong

Tuesday 07 July 2015

Stephen Baker, Senior Partner at Baker & Partners, recently participated in a panel discussion at the C5 Fraud, Asset Tracing & Recovery conference in Hong Kong about tracing the proceeds of fraud and corruption into key offshore jurisdictions.

Advocate Baker spoke alongside several other leading offshore lawyers about the information that can be obtained from public sources in asset tracing cases, how to navigate confidentiality legislation and the processes of freezing, confiscating and restituting proceeds from fraud. The discussion was particularly topical following the recent FIFA corruption scandal, a matter addressed by the panel.

The panel discussion was part of a 2-day conference discussing innovative strategies in an era of global fraud, with a particular focus on Asia.

C5, together with its affiliates, offers over 500 conferences, forums and summits each year, monitoring trends and developments in all major industry sectors, the law and high growth markets. Their conferences are globally recognised as the most up-to-date source of information in each given industry. This year, over 25,000 senior business and public sector executives, lawyers and other professionals from across the globe will attend their events.

Advocate Baker said: "I was extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to speak at the Fraud, Asset Tracing and Recovery conference in Hong Kong. In a globalised and digital world, fraud has entered a whole new era, and it’s important for the legal industry to stay on top of the latest developments. The C5 conference was an excellent opportunity to do just this, and I was happy to be part of it.”
