Jersey’s financial watchdog is warning islanders against dealing with an individual suspected to be offering lending services without the appropriate authorisation.
The Jersey Financial Services Commission said in a statement that it suspects a ‘Mr Aaron Gibbs’ to be “falsely purporting” to run a lending business when he is not registered with the Commission, which is required under the law.
The JFSC said that Mr Gibbs – who uses the email address aarongibbs.capitalgroup@gmail.com – "has never been registered, nor applied for registration".
As a result, any business carried out by the individual is therefore a "breach" of the Proceeds of Crime (Supervisory Bodies) Law.
"Anyone who has had dealings with Mr Gibbs is asked to contact the JFSC's Enforcement Division," the JFSC added in its public statement.
