Winners of ICSA Jersey Awards 2017 announced

Winners of the ICSA Jersey Awards 2017 were celebrated along with the recent academic achievements of ICSA graduates and students during the ICSA Jersey Annual Dinner held at the Hotel de France.

The Awards were judged by a panel of industry experts with the names of the winners announced as part of the gala on 29 September.

Sponsored by  BDO Sator Regulatory Consulting, Board Intelligence, BPP Professional Education, Brainloop, Crestbridge, and Perivan, the Awards went to:

  • Company Secretarial Officer of the Year: Frances Allain (Intertrust)
  • Special Commendation – Kathryn Linder of First Names
  • Corporate Services Team of the Year: Crestbridge
  • Administrator of the Year: Claudia Franco (Sanne)
  • Administration Team of the Year: Computershare Channel Islands
  • Governance Award of the Year: Dawn Manti (First Names)
  • Risk and Compliance Award: Ocorian
  • The One to Watch: Thomas Wheatcroft of Capita Asset Services
  • Student Excellence Award,based on examination performance: Rebecca Myles (Ocorian)

Robert Le Corre FCIS, ICSA Jersey Chairman, who sat on the Judging Panel along with David Rees ACIS, Chief Financial Officer of the Channel Islands Co-operative Society and Tania Angell FCIS, Immediate-Past Chairman of ICSA Jersey, commented: “Well done to the teams and individuals for their outstanding nominations.  We were very impressed indeed with the professionalism and technical excellence demonstrated by all of the participating organisations, teams and individuals.  It really does show the valuable work they do.”

In addition to the announcement of the ICSA Jersey Awards 2017 winners, the Dinner celebrations recognised the students present who have recently completed the various stages of their ICSA qualifications. Local and international prize winners who have excelled in their ICSA examination papers over the last year were also recognised, with a presentation of a certificate by ICSA UKRIAT President, John Heaton FCIS, and ICSA Chief Executive, Simon Osborne FCIS. 

This year, there were more prize winners than ever in Jersey, each achieving the highest mark internationally in their respective papers, including: Nicole Goddard of Aztec Group, Sarah Denoual of PraxisIFM, Francesca Maycock of Estera, Rebecca Myles of Ocorian, Holly Perchard of Aztec Group, Hannah Paton of Crestbridge, Jamie Wisbey of Mourant Ozannes, Louise De Mouilpied of RBC, Robyn Morais of Crestbridge, and Chelsea McKenna of Affinity Private Wealth.

The local prize winners who were applauded were:

  • Rebecca Myles for the Best Jersey Completion of the ICSA Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration (DOFA); and the Best Overall Jersey Completion, an achievement which also secured her the Student Excellence Award.
  • Louise De Mouilpied for the Best Jersey Completion of the Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme (CSQS).
  • Claudia-Rose Williams was also recognised for Best Jersey Completion of the International Finance and Administration (IFA) Level 4 Certificate although she was unable to attend the event.

The graduation ceremony, with formal graduation attire, celebrated the recently qualifying Jersey-based ICSA Graduates, and new Associates of the Institute, including Zoe Botterill GradICSA; Louise De Mouilpied GradICSA; Monica Dunlop GradICSA; Claudia Franco GradICSA; Holly Perchard GradICSA; Katie Lamerton ACIS; Hannah Luce ACIS; Heather Barker ACIS; and Terese Price ACIS.

 The sold-out event was also the occasion to raise  £1,439 for Headway Jersey through a charity draw. Mr Le Corre who was delighted with the turn-out at the gala commented: "Participation in the ICSA Jersey Awards has grown year on year, which bodes well for the profession since these are the company secretaries and administrators of the future. Good governance benefits companies, large and small, by establishing a framework of processes and attitudes that add value to the business, helps build its reputation and ensures its long-term continuity and success. The need for governance professionals who support and advise the boards of organisations in all industries and sectors has never been more relevant than it is today.”
