The last in the 30/30 series of fundraising events for Les Bourgs Hospice will see islanders donning running gear and trainers.

Throughout October, those who sign up for 30 runs in 30 days will aim to run 30 minutes a day. It’s the final event in the 30/30 series which has already seen month long walking, cycling and swimming challenges.

This year’s 30 runs in 30 days will be the fourth and Les Bourgs Hospice is delighted that Appleby has once again agreed to be the sponsor, having supported it since the start. More than £65,000 has been raised to date from this event.

‘The 30/30 events are so important to us as each year they raise thousands of pounds towards the £1.1 million we need to provide care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We have had another brilliant year with islanders thoroughly enjoying challenging themselves and enjoying being out and about in Guernsey,’ said Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising administrator Trish De Carteret.

‘We are incredibly grateful to Appleby for continuing their support as that ensures that all of the money raised by participants can go directly towards helping our patients.’

Jeremy Berchem, group partner at Appleby, said: ‘We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the Les Bourgs 30 Runs in 30 Days event. Once again we will be entering a team from the Appleby Guernsey office to take part, and the team is looking forward to donning its running shoes and helping raise funds for this tremendous charity.’

Mrs De Carteret said while the event is called 30 runs in 30 days, people can walk it, do the run in 15 days or do a marathon and cover several days in one hit. The aim is to run, or walk, for 15 hours during the month of October in any way that suits the individual’s lifestyle. People of all ages and all fitness levels can take part.

‘It is an event for all ages and abilities and in previous years we have had a mix of individuals, couples, family groups and work colleagues signing up. People can run as fast or as slowly as they like, when they like and how and where they like. All we ask is that they run the equivalent of 30 minutes a day for 30 days,’ she said.

A group run will be organised for Monday 30th October in the early evening, details will be announced nearer the time. This will bring together as many of the participants as possible to celebrate the end of the challenge.

Runners need to register by 19th September to receive their 2017 30 runs in 30 days running shirt by 1st October. People can register online and download a sponsorship form at www.lesbourgshospice.org.gg or contact Trish De Carteret on 210329.
