Four adults in five are now fully vaccinated in the island, with 86% having received at least their first dose.

144,896 doses of the vaccine have been administered to islanders since the programme launched on 14 December 2020.

Overall, 80% of islanders over the age of 18 have now received both of their doses, with 86% or 84% of islanders aged 16 years having received at least one dose.

Among islanders aged over 50, the uptake has been of 96%, while it is of 87% for islanders aged over 30 and 64% for those between 18 and 29.

"It's an huge achievement," Becky Sherrington, the Head of the Vaccination Programme, said. "It's an incredible achievement for the island and we have done that at speed. We are incredibly proud of as a team and we should be as an island, because it's incredible public health place to be."

Meanwhile, 10% of 16 and 17-year-olds, who were only offered the vaccine in the past week, have received their first jab, and 3% are fully vaccinated.

The numbers of 17 and 18-year-olds who have come forward to get their jab has been "steadily climbing" said Ross Barnes, the Operations Lead for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

He said that first and second doses continue to remain available at Fort Regent until the end of the current vaccination programme.
