Appeal for witnesses after two girls accosted

Thursday 27 July 2017

The Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident where a man accosted two young girls on their way to the Town Park yesterday.

The two young girls, reported to be sisters, were walking along Bath Street to the Park when the older man approached them and took hold of one of their hands.

The girls ran away from the man to a safe place, where the Police were called.

The man is described as being in his 60s, having a tanned complexion and short grey hair with a grey moustache. He possibly has a slight facial disfigurement or a lump on his face. He was wearing a long beige coat, a dark green scarf and he was also wearing a watch with a brown strap.

It appears that after the girls ran away, the man in question was joined by another man and they both then headed off in the direction of West's Centre.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Police on 01534 612612 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
