Beachgoer arrested on suspicion of indecent assault

Wednesday 03 July 2019

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and disorderly conduct, following an alleged spate of threatening behaviour on the St. Brelade’s Bay promenade.

It was reported to Police yesterday that a man was “walking up and down the promenade shouting, swearing and making threats towards members of the public” between 18:30 and 20:50 – a time when the area was “busy… with people enjoying the evening sunshine.”

A 28-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Police said that he was also arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, as a result of a separate report.

They are now seeking more information about what happened, and are urging members of the public to get in touch if they witnessed the alleged “disturbance” by calling 612612 or making an anonymous report via the Crimestoppers website.
